OBJECTIVES

a) The objects for which AFC is established are:


To provide, on a not for profit basis, inter-country adoption services in accordance with

i. the Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Inter- Country Adoption (hereafter referred to as the Hague Convention), and;

ii. any Act of the Commonwealth or New South Wales (as may be amended from time to time) and Regulations made pursuant to such Act or Acts as may relate to the adoption of children in accordance with the Hague Convention.

b) To comply with any licensing or accreditation agreement and undertakings entered into with the State Central Authority.

c) To support and promote the adoption of children from countries outside Australia who are eligible for inter-country adoption into suitable families in Australia.

d) To give advice, support, counselling and assistance of any kind to persons in Australia who are seeking to adopt or who have adopted a child or children from countries outside Australia.

e) To provide a referral and support service to persons who have adopted a child or children from countries outside Australia after the granting of an Adoption Order.

f) To provide and facilitate continuing social contact between AFC Adoption Applicants, Adoptive Parents and Inter-country Adopted Children and their families in order to encourage appropriate peer support opportunities.

g) To raise funds to enable AFC to carry out, at all times, its purposes and objects on a financially viable basis, including but not limited to the raising of fees, charges, grants, loans and any other method of financing approved by the AFC Board.

h) Without limiting the paragraphs (a) to (h), to do anything that is incidental or conducive to achieving the objects set out in paragraphs (a) to (h).
